As part of the project to reconstruct the drinking water treatment plant “Carina” in Sokobanja, it is envisaged that the control building and laboratory facilities, as well as the chlorine station and pump station, will remain in the existing dimensions. It has been found that changing technology does not require an increase in the surface area of these facilities. These facilities have been refurbished through reconstruction, rehabilitation and renovation. The complete roof structure, joinery, the facade was replaced and all interior work was done.
The existing pre-treatment facilities were in very poor condition, demolished and new facilities of the same purpose and dimensions were built in their place. The structure was modified to accommodate the load on the steel structure for the second phase of construction.
The pools of slow filters were reconstructed by adding a layer of reinforced concrete floor and wall panels to the inside of the pool. The pool depth was increased by 35cm.
The construction of a new water treatment plant increased the capacity of the treated water, and the most problematic parts of the water supply system of the municipality of Sokobanja were expanded and reconstructed.
