Waste water treatment plant - Clean water for clean Sokobanja
Sokobanja, known for its healing water, untouched nature and unique mountain-spa environment, will soon get a modern wastewater treatment plant - a project of great importance for the ecology, human health and sustainable development of this region.
The new facility is being built on the site of an old system that served residents for many years, but no longer meets modern environmental protection requirements. The goal of the project is for Sokobanja to get a modern, reliable and energy-efficient system that will purify all wastewater from households and businesses to a level that is safe for nature and the river ecosystem.

WWTP Sokobanja
The project includes the complete reconstruction of the existing ones and the construction of 29 new buildings that form a functional unit: from inlet chambers, grids, sand pits and biological reactors, through pumping stations, tanks and sludge treatment systems, all the way to the final UV disinfection. Every part of the system is designed according to the most modern European standards, with the application of automation and modern solutions that enable precise process management and minimal maintenance costs.
On an area of over 20,000 square meters, the new facility will be an example of sustainable infrastructure in the service of water, soil and human health protection. Special attention is paid to the quality of materials, energy efficiency, equipment reliability and simple maintenance.
With this project, Sokobanja not only gets a technically modern facility, but also a strong step towards a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment. Clean rivers and preserved nature are the basis for the development of tourism, agriculture and the daily life of the inhabitants, and the new facility enables exactly that - that the water returns to nature clean, and the future of Sokobanja is secure.
